Reigning BSB Cup champion Gary Mason is determined to prove he has what it takes to challenge for the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship title next season after signing for the MSS Colchester Kawasaki team.

"I am pleased to remain with Nick and boys, and we can carry on with the work we did last season. I think now we will be championship contenders from the very start and I'm looking forward to it," said Andrews.

"We made so much progress last year with the bike and with adapting my style so I think we will be able to hit the ground running come the first round at Brands Hatch.

"It will be good to have Gary as a team-mate. He did a great job with his bike last year and proved with the front-row start at Thruxton he has the pace to run at the sharp end.

"I am going to be training in sunny climes over the winter and we hope to start testing alongside Paul Bird's World Superbike team come the end of January."

Mason has previously ridden for Nick Morgan's team back in the 2000 British Supersport Championship when he joined for the final half of the season taking a podium finish at the Brands Hatch final round. He also took a victory for the team in the European Superstock race by 12 seconds.

Mason took an impressive 18 victories on his way to lifting the BSB Cup title for the Quay Garage Honda team this season, having returned to the BSB paddock after a stint in AMA.

Mason told MCN: "I can't begin to tell you what this means to me. I've spent the last four years of my career to get back to this point. I was almost in tears when Nick told me I'd got the ride. I got very emotional because it's so important. It's all I've ever wanted, to be back in a top team in BSB. It's a dream come true.

"The 2009 ZX-10 was good but having talked to Nick about the team plans for 2010, I know it's going to get even better.  That's the thing, Nick's team have gradually improved every year and we're going to be going pre-season testing with the factory team this winter; we're getting access to factory information. The whole thing is pointing in the right direction.

"This is a big year for me. I've got to make it happen. It's taken me a long time to get back and there's no way I'm going to let up now. I've got a lot of experience and think that's going to pay off with the one-bike rule for next year. You simply can't afford to miss scoring in any round. I've got that consistency plus we're going to have a great bike and I know it can win races." - MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship Website
